How to Throw a Magical Unicorn Party
Jun 23, 2017
A unicorn is “a mythical usually white animal generally depicted with the body and head of a horse with long flowing mane and tail and a single often spiraled horn in the middle of the forehead” — according to Merriam-Webster.
According to us, unicorns are a reason to have a party. But a unicorn party needs to live up to the magic of this mythical creature.
Whether you’re having a unicorn-themed party to celebrate something special, or you’re doing it just because you can, here’s how to use treats, accessories and activities to make it sparkle.
No unicorn party would be complete without unicorn-themed games and activities for your guests to enjoy. And they can be simple to execute:
An easy — and often more affordable — way to get a unicorn piñata is to DIY it! Buy a traditional donkey piñata, give it a horn, and spray paint it with glitter and pretty colors or add gold touches.
Pin the horn on the unicorn
The donkey is the inspiration for this other game. Instead of pinning a tail on a donkey, challenge your unicorn tribe to pin the horn in the right spot.
Who doesn’t love a good photo booth to post fun selfies on Instagram? Cover a wall or fence in pink, purple or gold paper, then place plenty of unicorn-themed props for your guests to use to take pictures. Make up your own hashtag so you can keep your unicorn pics all in one feed!
Look the part
You don’t have to wear an all-out unicorn costume (although that would be awesome) to look like a unicorn. A few accessories and small touches — a unicorn horn, some glitter makeup — can add the magic you need.
Don’t forget to be a good host and buy plenty for your guests to get in on the fun too!
Make unicorn treats
No party is complete without some sweets, but you don’t want your run-of-the-mill cupcakes. This is a special day! Get colorful with the icing, and use this unicorn cupcake kit from Meri Meri to pay homage to the mythical creature.
If you’re talented in the kitchen, then you can go all out and make this adorable unicorn cheesecake. (Tasty makes everything look so easy!)
Send your girls home with something that’ll help them remember this enchanting day. Cute, handmade goodie bags make great treats; fill them with unicorn stickers, pastel-colored sweets and glittery nail polish. Or, if you want to splurge, unicorn onesies are always a hit.
